There’s so much talk about “rules,” and how to “break the rules” that it can be misleading to some. What I’m attempting to do is to show you how to intertwine permissible whites with the cooler seasons. Now it goes without saying that white shirts are permissible year round (with the exception of your warm-season fabrics such as linen, fine cotton and gauze). White suits, sport jackets, belts, trousers and 90% of your white kicks are relegated to spring & summer. The trick is to anchor-down your whites with heavier colors, fabrics or textures. Such as wearing military pants like image 1. Or even pairing your white denim jeans with deserts boots like image 2. And for your trim light-weight sneaker, team-up with your wools, tweeds, heavy cottons and dark denims to make that seasonal mark. No need to break any rules, just weave between the lines.
